Despite their common roots, Austrian and German GAAP have differed importantly over time, especially between the German Accounting Law Modernization Act (BilMoG 2009) and the Austrian Accounting Changes Act (RÄG 2014). In recent years, Austrian GAAP have converged not only to IFRS but also to German GAAP. However, some differences still remain. In the following, Kevin Dix and Stéphanie Mittelbach-Hörmanseder analyze the most important differences in order to provide implications about the comparability of financial statements prepared under Austrian and German GAAP.
